A bunch of cool chicks

So I am the first person to admit I procrastinate...I procrastinate horribly...so sometimes it just takes a little boost to get me going and then when I am in the 'zone' watch out! I think sometimes when you are in a funk you need to surround yourself with like minded people to bounce ideas off of and get you back on track.

After little Finn was born, obviously I had a lot on my plate and now that I am getting back into the swing I felt a little lost. A little out of sorts on my passion...what was my passion, what am I doing to push my career forward, what can I do to feel fresh and add life to my business?

This past weekend I met my Ladies Who Launch group of chicks who I am so happy to have met through the program and now we try to meet every month or so to catch up and see what cool projects we are working on. This time we met for high tea at the Windsor Arms right off Bloor in the the big smoke, and we had scones and petit fours and yummy tea...and did I mention the scones? OK I am badly off track now, where was I? Oh yes, the ladies...so we went around the table chatting about what we have been up to with our business ideas/businesses and then the ideas were flying. It was great.

So when it came time for moi I was a little nervous as I really hadn't done much aside from popping out a baby. I have started back to work and have some projects that I am working on, but I didn't feel I had too much to annouce. When I started my monologue I was suprised that yes I did have cool stuff to chat about, and it made me feel back in the game and on track to my goals. I also had this new idea for a mommy blog which everyone really encouraged me to start and I left feeling really motivated and excited about my business and my life.

I think the moral of this long winded story is that you really have to surround yourself with people who encourage you and who are quite like minded as they are the people who have a million things on the go just like you and they are the ones who push you to be the person you really strive to be. I just wanted to thank my cool chicks for the pep talk and I hope they felt as excited as I did after guzzling back a few jugs of tea.

Wall art that rocks

So I am always looking online for ways to spend money much to the chagrin of my better half, and I came across this link from a cool newsletter subscription that I receive daily from the sparkling single. It was a link to an etsy page and the designer was elly nelly from New York. These wall decals are so cool and I love the variety they possess! I have been searching high and low for some cool stuff for my office and Finn's room and eureka I think I have found it! Now if I could only decide on which one...

A little recognition!

Howdy folks! A little fun tidbit that I learned yesterday is that my website was added to Cool Home Pages.com! I have always been a fan of this website and I frequent it a lot to get inspiration from other coolio designers...so to have me added is pretty awesome and makes me feel like I've finally made it...(break into Manilow...looks like we made it!). They told me that I would be added to the end of the lists some of the categories such as Flash, animation, color schemes, layouts and very clean..however when I checked I was on the first page of all these categories - hoo ra, I have arrived!

The newly hatched member...

Hi All & Happy New Year!

Finally I am back after two months of maternity leave which really wasn't enough really! I don't want to turn this blog into a baby crazy blog, but I did want to do one post about my little bundle of joy (and sometimes stress!) Finn. He arrived on Remembrance Day 2008 at 4:49 am...and after such a short labour I really can't complain (only 5 hours). I say 'only' as everyone says that was an awesome short time, but honestly it seemed like a lifetime when you are in such pain. It wasn't easy going 'natural' but I feel like any pain that comes my way I am prepared...bullets, no problem!

So far things are going well...he is sleeping through the night which is only 5 hours for you non mommies, and it really is a crappy thing to say cause who sleeps only 5 hours and then says they slept all night? Preposterous! Whomever coined that term should be shot. I have to say though that I am tickled pink to be back at work and the support from all the family, friends and coolio clients have been overwhelming.

Finally I want to give a large shout out to my uber wonderful hubby who is home this week and indulging my whims by re-doing my office space for me. While he sweats under a paint brush and wood shavings I am sitting here all cozy in my kitchen praying that Finn will actually stay asleep long enough to finish one little post...here's to the upcoming year of long naps and good nights sleep - hoo ra!

A fresh look at scrolling...

This website had such a cool idea that really was so simple...it makes me mad I didn't think of it first! Most websites out there have some form of 'scrolling' down the page which is ok, but sometimes you can get so tired of scrolling you think - will this ever end? Well this design company (Murillo Design) came out with this idea of scrolling across instead of up and down and it looks so cool that I instantly was taken with this idea. Check it out and see what you think!

The Girl Effect

I found this website a little while ago and it still affects me when I watch the opening video...It is called The Girl Effect & it is so inspirational and clear as to what we have to do to make the world a better place! I know saving the world isn't as simple as this, but think about the ideas it throws at you and I think it will really make the wheels start to turn and what is really possible when you start with educating a young girl. Move over spice girls, this truly is girl power and something to inspire and motivate you.

Blogging about blogging?

ok, so I think this is an odd subject to be blogging about but I recently became acquainted with Wordpress Blogs (www.wordpress.org) which as I am sure a lot of you know, is a really cool option for a blog as well as for a website in which you can update yourself which is becoming so very popular for my clients in this economic downswing. I am just leanring the ropes now, but it is fast becoming a new obsession for me and something I really want to excel at and offer to my clients in the true Freshly Hatched fashion of a customized creation! Right now I am still going to offer this solution to my clients and outsource out the hard stuff, but soon I will become master of this new trend...soon I tell you!
